| The vice-president/secretary shall: |
 |
- Be the president's immediate deputy and fulfill the president's term of office until elections can take place should that position become vacant.

- Chair all meetings of the ECET in the absence of the president.

- Be unbiased, provide opportunities for the views and contributions for all countries to be voiced.

- With the other board members establish and hold the aims and objectives of the ECET.

- With the president provide a mechanism to deal with all concerns expressed by the members.

- Be a person who is an independent nurse practitioner.

- Since the official language of the ECET is English, the vice-president/secretary must be able to communicate in English.

- Within this role, the vice-president/secretary will act at all time in an ethical manner.

- Submit an annual report of activities of her/his activities.

- Record the minutes of all meetings, reports from board members and the chairs of all working groups, which must be given to the president within four weeks. Copies of these documents will be retained by the vice-president/secretary.

- Prepare and circulate agendas in advance of planned meetings.

- Establish and maintain a current list of ECET members.

- Maintain and record the current constitution and inform the members via their representative of proposed amendments.
