- To break down national barriers and create a unified European identity
- To discuss and act in unity as one body on common issues
- Promote the exchange of information and establish effective communication systems throughout Europe
- Develop educational and teaching standards that are acceptable to all
- Organise conferences, seminars and short training courses
- Promote good quality stoma care and ethical standards
- Promote research and the sharing of knowledge across Europe
- Provide support to all so that they can optimise their personal professional development
- Establish recognition of specialist nurses (ET’s) in stoma care across Europe
